Wildcats close out homestand hosting Bengals Saturday night

Weber State will take on Idaho State Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
• Fresh off a win earlier this week, Weber State closes out its four-game homestand with longtime rival Idaho State on Saturday night.
• The Wildcats and Bengals will tipoff at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with Tony Parks and former Weber State head coach Joe Cravens calling the action.
The Weber State radio broadcast will be on 103.1 FM "The Wave" with Carl Arky and former Weber State standout and Big Sky MVP David Patten on the call.

• Weber State is 9-15 overall and 3-7 in conference play. The 'Cats are coming off a thrilling 77-73 win over Northern Arizona on Monday night. Saturday's game will be the fourth of a four-game homestand. Idaho State is 10-11 overall and 5-5 in the Big Sky.
• Weber State senior Blaise Threatt had a career night in leading Weber State to a win over Northern Arizona. He scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. The 34 points are the most points in a game by a Wildcat in five years.
In Big Sky games, Threatt is averaging 20.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game and is shooting 55 percent from the field. He is averaging 23.6 points a game over the last five games.
Overall Threatt now leads the Wildcats in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He is second in the conference in scoring at 18.4 points per game. He is also second in steals, third in minutes played, fourth in assists, fourth in assist to turnover ratio, and fifth in field goal percentage.
• Wildcat sophomore Viljami Vartiainen scored in double figures for the fourth straight game and hit a key 3-pointer in Monday's win. He has scored in double figures in five of the last six games. On the year, Vartiainen is averaging 7.5 points per game and leads the Wildcats with 42 3-pointers.
• Freshman Trevor Hennig added a career-high 14 points in the win. It was his eighth time scoring in double figures this season and he has reached double figures in five of WSU's 10 Big Sky games. He also started Monday's game, his first collegiate start.
• Idaho State enters Saturday's game at 10-11 overall and 5-5 in Big Sky play, currently fourth in the league standings. The Bengals had two straight before an 86-72 home loss to Northern Colorado on Monday night. ISU is 2-8 on the road this season but started Big Sky play with a road win at Northern Arizona.
• The Bengals rank seventh in the nation in rebounding margin at +9.8 and are also second in the country in offensive rebounds per game at 14.5. They also rank 18th in the country in blocks, averaging 5.1 a game. Dylan Darling is third in the Big Sky in scoring at 17.6 per game and Jake O'Neill is 16th in the country in rebounding. Evan Otten is 11th in the country in blocked shots.
• Earlier this season in Pocatello, Weber State picked up its first Big Sky win of the season with a 77-69 win over the Bengals at Reed Gym. Weber State shot 58.8 percent from the field, the best shooting percentage for the Wildcats all season against a Division I opponent.
Dyson Koehler led the 'Cats with 21 points and made six 3-pointers. Blaise Threatt and Vasilije Vucinic each had 17 points for the 'Cats in the win.
• This will be the 136th all-time meeting between the two schools who are both charter members of the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcats hold an 86-49 series lead since becoming a Division I school, including the win earlier this year in Pocatello. Prior to that win, Idaho State had won the last two and three of the previous four games played.
• In games in Ogden, Weber State is 50-15 all-time but Idaho State has won its last two games at the Dee Events Center. The Bengals won by 10 in 2023 and won by 10 points last January.
• After four straight home games, the Wildcats will return to the road for two games at Montana State and Montana next week.
