OGDEN - Weber State made a second half rally but it wasn't enough as Idaho State beat the Wildcats 72-67 Saturday night at the Dee Events Center. Â
Weber State shot 53 percent from the field and knocked down seven 3-pointers, but the Wildcats committed 15 turnovers and were rebounded 35-27.Â
The Bengals led by as many as 11 points in the first half and held a 37-31 lead at halftime. The 'Cats rallied back and took the lead in the second half but the Bengals kept answering.Â
The 'Cats cut the lead to one point with 1:03 to play and again were down one with 13 seconds left, but Idaho State made four free throws in the final seven seconds to seal the win.Â
Freshman Trevor Hennig started his second straight game and delivered again with a career-high 21 points. He was 8 of 11 from the field, including a perfect 4 of 4 from 3-point range. He also led the Wildcats with six rebounds.Â
The 21 points is the most by a true Wildcat freshman against a Division I opponent in eight years.
Blaise Threatt continued his strong play with 20 points, along with five rebounds and five assists.Â
The Wildcats played without senior Dyson Koehler who broke his right wrist in Monday's win over Northern Arizona and will likely miss the remainder of the season. Senior Miguel Tomley is also out for the remainder of the year while dealing with a serious medial situation.Â
After four straight home games, Weber State hits the road for two games this week. The 'Cats play at Montana State on Thursday and at Montana on Saturday.Â
