MORAGA, Calif. - After being rained out on day one of the Saint Mary's Tournament, Weber State softball fell 7-5 to Harvard and 4-3 to SMU on day two.
GAME ONE
Weber State 5, Harvard 7
Bats started hot for Harvard as the squad totaled six runs within the first three innings.
The Wildcats tacked on their first run of the day off a Sadi Kirk triple to right center field to allow Olivia Birkinshaw to run home.
A Harvard home run in the fifth inning advanced their lead 7-1.
Weber State found momentum in the final two innings. Abby Grundy ran home off a Sienna Solis fly out to center field and an Apple Maldonado single brought home Gianna Memoli.
Three back-to-back outs in the bottom of the sixth kept the Wildcats trailing by four headed into the seventh inning.
Needing at least four runs to stay in the game, Solis singled for two RBI and brought Weber State to trail 7-5. With one Wildcat on base, a ground out then secured the game for Harvard 7-5.
Joslynn Veltien took the loss (3-5) as she faced 13 batters in 2.0 innings.
The Wildcats totaled 11 hits compared to Harvard's 9. Kirk led the team going 2-for-4 at bat and a solo RBI and run.
GAME TWO
Weber State 3, SMC 4
Weber State was first on the board courtesy of a Kirk double in the third inning.
Kirk then extended that lead for the Wildcats in the fifth inning off a single up the middle for two RBI.
Saint Mary's tied it up in the bottom of the fifth off a single and home run.
Taking their first lead of the game, the Gaels hit a home run to left center field in the sixth and the 4-3 advantage was then in favor of SMC.
