Wildcats drop a pair to close out weekend

GAME ONE
Weber State 5, SMC 13 (6 Inn.)
On the board first, SMC singled to left field for the first RBI of the game in the first inning.Â
The Gaels tacked on three more in the second inning. Jena Amador singled through the left side for an RBI and three pitches later Amador stole home to put the score at 3-0. The fourth run for the Gaels came off a sacrifice fly to left field.Â
Weber State got on the board following a Sadie Kirk home run, the sixth of her career as a Wildcat.Â
To make it a two run game, with bases loaded Abby Grundy hit a double to left center for three RBI in the fifth.Â
SMC extended their advantage in the bottom of the sixth and closed out the first game of the day 13-5 off a walk off three run home run.Â
Jayci Finch took the loss pitching the first four innings for the Wildcats.Â
Grundy led the team going 2-for-3 at bat with three RBI. Sammy Gallegos also totaled two hits for the 'Cats.Â
GAME TWO
Weber State 1, SMC 4
SMC earned the first run of the second game of a Wildcat error and a sacrifice fly then in the second inning put the Gaels up by two.Â
Weber State earned their first run when Mariyah Delgado doubled to left center, earning her third RBI of the season.Â
Two more runs came in for the Gaels to increase the score in their favor 4-1.Â
The Wildcat defense held strong throughout the final inning and despite the 'Cats best efforts as they totaled three hits in the sixth inning, SMC went on to win the game.Â
Brooke Merrill took the loss, pitching 1.1 innings.Â
Wildcats Riley Whalen and Jordan McMahon both recorded two hits for the squad.Â

The Wildcats will match up with the Utah Valley Wolverines tomorrow, March 17 for a single game in Orem with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
