FRESNO, Calif. – Cala Korman had a record-setting day for Weber State on Tuesday, leading the Wildcats to a fourth place finish at the Fresno State Classic at Copper River Country Club.
Less than a month after Sofia Fuenmayor set the Weber State women's golf record for lowest single round score with a 5-under par 67 in the final round of the Lady Thunderbird Invitational, Korman went one better, carding six birdies in a bogey-free 6-under par 66.
Korman, who started her round on No. 6, got her day going with a birdie on No. 7. She then added a pair of birdies on the back nine to get to 3-under par, and wrapped up the record with three-straight birdies down the stretch on holes two through four.
Her 66 came after rounds of 72 and 77 on Monday, giving her a 1-under par total of 215, putting her in a tie for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, the Wildcats shot rounds of 303 and 304 on Monday before posting the second-best score of the final round with a 289 for a tournament total of 896. Cal State Northridge won the event with a total of 882, finishing one shot ahead of second-place UC Riverside.
Isabel Gutierrez shot rounds of 75, 74 and 74 for a 7-over par total of 223 to tie for 12th, while Jade Gruher finished 18th to give Weber State three players inside the top-20 after rounds of 76, 79 and 72 for an 11-over par 227.
Emma Lillywhite shot 80-76-77 for a 17-over par 233 to tie for 22nd place, and Emily Song shot 81-77-77 for a 19-over par 235 to tie for 27th.
Tarleton State's Louise Depadt shot a 5-under par 211 to take the tournament's individual medalist honors.
