The 'Cats wrapped up another weekend of competition with multiple all-time performances this past weekend. The 'Cats split travel between the Stanford Invitational and the UNLV Rebel Elite on April 4 & 5.Â
"A few of our athletes had the opportunity to compete at Stanford and UNLV this weekend. It was really nice to come away with a number of PR's, all time marks, and even a few efforts that will qualify for the NCAA first round," head coach Corbin Talley said.Â
Stanford Invitational
Jacob Peterson kicked off the weekend for the Wildcats with an all-time performance in the 10k. Peterson recorded a tenth place finish for a time of 29:36.32 and is now tenth on the all-time list.
"I thought Jake Peterson gave a great effort in the 10,000. For the first 10k on the track. It is definitely a challenging event doing 25 laps. To make the all-time list on his debut is very impressive."Â Â Â
Peter Visser recorded a sixth place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:35.98 and is now fifth on the all-time list. Ty Davis finished in ninth with a time of 8:40.46.Â
"It was a really strong opener from Peter Visser in the steeplechase. It's the fastest from a Weber State athlete in 23 years and is currently number seven in the entire NCAA," Talley said. "It was also an awesome performance from Ty Davis at 8:40. He barely missed the all time list, and really showed some toughness over the final laps of the race to lock in a solid time that will get him to the NCAA first round. I was particularly proud of him because he had a few setbacks this winter, but has been working really hard with a lot of focus."Â
Kelton Gagnon recorded a first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:50.25 and Bryson Ottley finished second at 1:50.57.Â
"And then Kelton and Bryson in the 800m showed some great finishing speed to palace 1-2 in their heat. Both are very close to breaking the 1:50 barrier," Talley said.Â
Wesley Kallgren recorded a 13th palace finish in the 5k run with a time of 14:15.21.Â
UNLV Rebel Elite
Jeims Molina recorded a seventh place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 182-6 and Ryan Johnson finished in 15th at 165-4.
Molina finished seventh in the discus with a mark of 157-07, Jake Weathers finished in 26th at 123-01 and Johnson finished 27th at 121-08.
Ethan Ecker finished ninth in the javelin with a mark of 187-01 and Reese Jones finished in 15th at 174-05.Â

The 'Cats will be at home next week for the Weber State Spring Classic on April 11 and the Utah Spring Classic on April 12.Â
"We're excited to bounce back next week with the spring classic on home track and field," Talley said.
