'Cats look for road sweep at Eastern Washington Saturday

The Wildcats and Eagles will tipoff at 2 p.m. Pacific time (3 MT) Saturday in Cheney.
• Fresh off a road win, the Weber State men's basketball team will look for a road sweep as the Wildcats play at Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon.
• The Wildcats and Eagles will tipoff at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time (3:00 MT) from Reese Court in Cheney, Washington. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. WSU radio broadcast with Carl Arky will be on 103.1 FM "The Coast".
• The Wildcats picked up an 83-72 win at Idaho on Thursday night and led by as many as 26 points. WSU shot 48 percent from the field and knocked down nine 3-pointers.
Weber State is 7-6 in Big Sky play with five conference games remaining.
Eastern Washington is 6-6 in conference play and has won three straight games, including an 88-75 win over Idaho State on Thursday night.
Weber State is currently in fourth in the Big Sky standings with Eastern Washington in fifth.
• Weber State guard Tijan Saine Jr. led the Wildcats once again in Thursday's win, his ninth straight game leading WSU in scoring. Saine finished with a season-high 29 points and knocked down four 3-pointers in the win. It was his sixth straight game scoring at least 20 points and he has scored at least 20 points in 10 of WSU's 13 Big Sky games. He leads the conference in scoring in conference games at 21.9 points per game.
Overall this season, Saine is second in the Big Sky in free throw percentage at 89.0 percent, which is currently tied for the third-best in WSU single-season history. He is shooting 91.5 percent from the line in conference games. Saine is also third in the Big Sky in assist to turnover ratio, and ranks fifth in assists.
• Malek Gomma had 12 points and six rebounds in Thursday's win and was 4 of 5 from the field. It was his sixth game scoring in double figures this season. Gomma ranks fourth in the Big Sky in rebounding at 7.2 per game.
• Senior Nigel Burris also had 12 points against his former team on Thursday and has scored in double figures in each of the last five games. Burris is averaging 10.4 points and is shooting 54.1 percent from the field, the best on the Wildcat team.
• Viljami Vartiainen added 13 points and was 3 of 3 on 3-pointers. He is second on the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game. He is also second in the Big Sky in 3-pointers per game at 2.8 and is third in 3-point percentage at 41.8 percent.
Vartiainen has 56 3-pointers in 20 games played this season. He ranks ninth in WSU history with 158 3-pointers in 86 career games at Weber State.
• Weber State outrebounded the Vandals 38-31 on Thursday and the Wildcats now lead the Big Sky in rebounding at 37.8 per game. WSU is also third in rebounding margin. The 'Cats are second in the Big Sky in scoring offense and also rank third in 3-point defense and steals.
• Eastern Washington enters Saturday's game with a three-game winning streak. The Eagles picked up road wins at Montana and Montana State last week, then beat Idaho State 88-75 on Thursday night.
Isiah Moses is fifth in the Big Sky in scoring at 17.6 points per game. He also ranks fourth in the nation in free throw percentage at 92.9 percent and is 69 for 72 from the line in Big Sky games.
The Eagles are coached by longtime college coach Dan Monson.
• The Wildcats beat the Eagles 91-80 on January 15 at the Dee Events Center, to improve to 4-1 in Big Sky play. The 'Cats knocked down nine 3-pointers in the win. Tijan Saine led WSU with 23 points and Edwin Suarez had 18.
• WSU holds a 53-32 all-time series lead over Eastern Washington, but the Eagles have won five of the last eight games against the Wildcats.
In games in Cheney, WSU leads 20-19 and has won the last two games. Last season, Weber State won 66-64 on an Alex Tew tip-in at the buzzer.
• Weber State will play its final home games of the season next week when the 'Cats host Montana State on Thursday and Montana on Saturday. Saturday's game will start at 7:30 p.m. due to Utah state high school basketball tournaments.
