Wildcats fall to Lancers in Boise

BOISE, Idaho - Weber State fell 6-4 to Cal Baptist this Friday afternoon on day one of the Blue Collar Classic. Weber State led 4-2 entering the seventh inning before Cal Baptist rallied with four runs to secure the victory.
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the third inning when Jordan McMahon stole home.Â
In the fourth inning, a single by Sienna Solis and a subsequent RBI single by Jordan Hart allowed Cailin Quinney, who pinch ran for Abby Grundy, to score and extended the lead for Weber State 2-0.Â
The fifth inning saw the Wildcats add two more runs. Emma Bingham and Taegan Smith advanced on a fielder's choice by Apollonia Maldonado, which, coupled with a throwing error, allowed both runners to score. The score was then 4-2 in favor of Weber State after Cal Baptist responded with a two-run homer by Tu.
Cal Baptist's decisive comeback occurred in the seventh inning. Mede's grand slam brought in four runs, leading to their 6-4 victory.Â
Cali McCraw pitched a complete game for Weber State, throwing 6.2 innings with 104 pitches. She allowed eight hits and six earned runs, striking out five batters while walking one. Despite conceding two home runs, McCraw managed to record nine fly outs and six ground outs. Her efforts included facing 30 batters and throwing 60 strikes.
