Wildcats defeat Lancers, fall to Broncos on day two of Blue Collar Classic

Game One: Weber State 6, Cal Baptist 5
Weber State secured the win with a decisive two-run seventh inning, overcoming Cal Baptist's early lead.
Weber State and Cal Baptist exchanged runs in the first inning. For the Wildcats, Jordan McMahon reached second on a throwing error, and Apollonia Maldonado singled up the middle, bringing McMahon home for an unearned run.Â
The third inning saw the Lancers take the lead. Mede hit a two-run homer to right-center after Severn advanced to third on a wild pitch. The score stood at 3-1 in CBU's favor.
In the fourth inning, Cal Baptist extended its lead, scoring two more runs. However, Weber State responded when Emma Bingham hit a three-run homer, driving in Sadie Kirk and Abby Grundy to tie the game at 4-4.
The game remained scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings, with neither team able to capitalize on their opportunities.
In the seventh inning, the Wildcats McMahon singled, and Maldonado hit a two-run homer to left field, putting the Wildcats ahead and ending the game with Weber State securing a 6-5 victory over Cal Baptist.
Kendall Freidinger pitched two innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out one batter. RJ Parra entered for five innings, giving up four runs on four hits, including a home run.Â
McMahon posted three hits and scored two runs in the game. Maldonado contributed with a home run and three RBI, tallying two hits and one run. Bingham added a home run and drove in three runs. Taegan Smith totaled four assists from her shortstop position.
Game Two: Boise State 9, Weber State 5
Weber State managed seven hits, including one double and one triple, but was unable to overcome Boise State's three home runs and 12 total hits.
Boise State took an early lead in the first inning with a solo homer by Stroh. Setting the score at 1-0 in favor of the Broncos.Â
In the third inning, the Wildcats found their way onto the scoreboard. Sienna Solis singled and eventually scored on a groundout by Victoria Rey, narrowing the gap. However, Boise State responded with a homer from Flindt and a two-run homer by Penberthy, extending its lead. The inning closed with Boise ahead 6-1.
Weber State added two more runs in the sixth inning, fueled by a triple from Taegan Smith, who later scored on a groundout by pinch hitter Kiaira Smith. Despite this effort, the Broncos maintained their lead by adding two runs of their own in their half. The inning concluded with Boise leading 9-3.
In the final inning, Weber State made a late push. Abby Grundy walked and was replaced by Emma Bingham, who advanced to third on a double by Solis. Bingham scored on a single by Mariyah Delgado, and Solis scored on a wild pitch, but the comeback fell short and the game ended with Boise State winning 9-5.
Raina Navarro started the game for the Wildcats, pitching 1.1 innings and allowing four hits, including two doubles and a home run, resulting in three earned runs. Kendall Freidinger took over for 1.2 innings, giving up three hits and two home runs, with all three runs earned. Joslynn Veltien concluded the pitching efforts with three innings of work, allowing five hits and striking out three batters, while also issuing two walks.
