Three-Point Shooting Leads 'Cats to Win

The Weber State women's basketball team made a season-high ten three-pointers in route to a 61-49 win over Eastern Michigan Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. The win movs the Wildcats to 3-3 on the season.
The ?Cats were 10-19 from three-point land, compared to just 1-15 for the Eagles, who were playing their first ever game in the state of Utah. Overall Weber State shot 41 percent from the field and held the Eagles to 34 percent shooting. Eastern Michigan did out rebound Weber State 41-33.
EMU had 16 turnovers, while the Wildcats had 14, but the ?Cats had 26 points off of Eastern Michigan turnovers, compared to just six for the Eagles.
Eastern Michigan jumped out to a 4-2 lead within the first two minutes of the game but they would never lead again. With the game tied at 8-8 with 12:30 to play, Weber State went on a 16-4 run over the next eight minutes and took a seven-point lead into halftime.
In the second half EMU cut the lead to four on two occasions but each time Weber State responded with a big run to take control. With 9:09 to play the ?Cats led 38-347 and then went on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes and never looked back.
Sara Tuomi led Weber State with 20 points and also pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists. Ali Thorderson came off the bench for a career-high 12 points and was 4-5 from three-point land. Tashina Taylor pulled down a season-high nine rebounds and sophomore Tonya Schnibbe posted eight points and six assists in the win, the first ever game for Weber State against a team from the Mid-American Conference.
The Wildcats will now have over a week off and won't play again until Saturday, December 8 when they host Colorado State at the Dee Events Center.
