BOISE, Idaho -- The Wildcats suffered another pair of losses on Sunday as they completed a 24-game season-opening road swing without a win. Weber State was defeated 14-4 by Minnesota and 16-1 by Boise State at the SpringHill Suites Invitational.

Minnesota led off the top of the first inning with back-to-back home runs and added another run in the frame for a quick 3-0 lead.

The Wildcats battled back, scoring four times in the bottom of the second inning to take a one-run lead. Ariel Whiteman led off the inning with a double to right center, and Aubri Chiquete and Abby Bowcutt followed with consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs. Jessica Adler, pinch running for Whiteman, scored on an illegal pitch by the Gophers. Marqi Gray singled home Bowcutt and Chiquete with one out, and later scored the final run on a passed ball.

The lead was short-lived for the Wildcats, as Minnesota answered with four runs in the top of the third. The Gophers added five more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to finish off Weber State.

Against Boise State, the host-Broncos scored 16 runs over the first four innings, including a six-spot in the bottom of the first, to rout the Wildcats. Weber State managed one run on seven hits.

The Wildcats got their lone run on an RBI single by Chiquete that scored Genasee Aman.

Weber State will have next week off, which will be followed up by the first home game of the new era of WSU softball. The Wildcats will open up their home field with a pair against Nevada on April 1.
