OGDEN, Utah – Another four-point weekend has the Wildcats in the hunt again for a berth in the postseason.
Junior forward Morgan Quarnberg scored for the third consecutive game and the Weber State University women's soccer team battled it out for 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Weber State moved to 2-3-2 in Big Sky play (3-10-2 overall) and now sits just one point out of sixth place with three matches to go in the regular season. The Wildcats also have one match in hand on all three teams it's currently chasing for the final playoff berth.
Quarnberg, who scored the dramatic match-winner in the Wildcats' 2-1 road win at Northern Arizona on Friday night, blasted home a 20-yard shot off Garbielle Vivier-Hannay's assist in the 26th minute to put the Wildcats ahead 1-0.
Sacramento State pulled even in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a Wildcat turnover near midfield that saw the Hornets' Kylee Kim-Bustillos score her eighth goal of the year.
Both teams battled back and forth during the second half and overtime periods, but neither was able to punch through the match-winner.
The match was a rapid and rugged affair as the two sides combined for 39 shots and 40 fouls.
Weber State will be back in action on Friday when it hosts Idaho at 7 p.m. in its final night match of the season, and will host Senior Day on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Eastern Washington.
