CHENEY, Wash. - In a Big Sky showdown between two ranked teams, No. 14 Weber State defeated No. 11 Eastern Washington 28-20 on a cold, snowy Saturday at Roos Field.

The win moves the Wildcats to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Big Sky play with two games remaining. The Eagles fall to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Game time temperatures were in the low 30's with snow flurries in the second half as the Wildcats picked up their first win in Cheney since 2009.

The Wildcats totaled 414 yard of offense and held Eastern Washington to 383 yards.

The Eagles scored a touchdown on their first possession and led 7-0 after the first quarter. The Wildcats tied the game early in the second quarter when Stefan Cantwell found Treshawn Garrett for a 14-yard TD.

The Wildcats took the lead for the first time midway through the third quarter when Cantwell found Garrett for a 26-yard touchdown pass.

WSU's defense twice forced the Eagles to field goals in the fourth quarter, including a goal-line stop, and led 21-20 with seven minutes to play.

The Wildcats put together a 9-play, 65-yard drive over the next 4:35, capped by a 24-yard touchdown by David Jones.

WSU's defense again came up with a defensive hold. The 'Cats then missed a field goal but Preston Smith picked off an Eastern Washington pass to seal the win.
