Weber State falls in physical game against Boise State

BOISE, ID – The Weber State Wildcats fell 3-0 in a physical battle against the Boise State Broncos this evening.
Historically a tough game between the two teams, tonight's match was no different. The 'Cats held the Broncos to a scoreless match until the 34th minute, when BSU's Morgan Stone knocked a shot into the back of the net past sophomore goalkeeper, Kaytlin Bradley. Weber State held strong throughout the rest of the first half, and was able to give themselves a few chances on goal. The first half ended 1-0 for the Broncos.
The Wildcats gave themselves more chances in the second half. Nixie Hernandez, Trinity Kerr, Grace Nelson, Haley Thomas, and Mylee Broad all contributed to the seven shots Weber State took. However, Boise State goalkeeper Sydney Smith stopped any advance made by Weber State. The Broncos were able to put two more points on the scoreboard in the 67th and 85th minute of the second half to make the final score 3-0.
"Losing is tough, no matter how you spin it. We had good moments collectively and had several individuals show very well. Today, unfortunately, that just wasn't enough. I give credit to a very physical, very quick Boise State team. More than anything right now, we are excited to end our long road stretch and finally play at home on Sunday. It will be nice to play in front of our home crowd." said Interim Head Coach Meagan Thunell.
The Wildcats (1-5-0) return home on Sunday, September 14th to take on Fresno State at noon on Wildcat Soccer Field.
