Wildcat men and women finish first at CSI Invitational

TWIN FALLS, ID - The Weber State men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2019 season on a high note Friday afternoon at the College of Idaho Classic.

Both the Wildcat men and women's team captured first place in the meet.

MEN

The Wildcat men's team totaled 17 points and took home four out of the top five places in the meet. Weber State defeated Southern Idaho, Northwest Nazarene, and Westminster in the meet.

Wildcat senior Tyson Green took first place in the meet, turning in a time of 22:15.3 on the 7K course. Running unattached, Jacob Stone finished second with a time of 22:15.8. Junior Dallin Leathamtook third with a time of 22:15.8.

Sophomore Taylor Dillon finished fourth at 22:15.9 and senior Jordan Cross came in fifth at 22:18.2. Sophomore Krey Ramsey was Weber State's fifth finisher, taking eighth place at 22:28.3. Carson Horspool finished 10th, Jamison Wilkes finished 11th, Tracen Warnick finished 13th, and freshman Connor Arnell finished 14th.

WOMEN

On the women's side, Weber State also finished first in the meet with a total of 24 points. Utah took second place with a score of 33. Northwest Nazarene was third, followed by Southern Idaho and Westminster.

Weber State's top finisher was senior Lexie Thompson who finished first overall, posting a time of 18:03.8 on the 5K course. That time broke the CSI course record by 34 seconds. Junior Abby Lawrence came in second just after Thompson at 18:25.8.

WSU had four runners finish in the top 10 as senior senior Summer Allen came in fourth overall at 18:32.8, and freshman Laurie Murphy finished in fifth with a time of 18:45.9,

College of Idaho is coached by Weber State Hall of Famer and former Olympian Lindsey Anderson.

Friday's meet was the first of five meets before the Big Sky Championships. The Wildcats continue their season next Saturday, Sept. 14th, at the BYU Invitational in Provo.
