Wildcats rally past Wolf Pack in 2-OT thriller

RENO, NV– After 482 minutes of play this season, and three overtime games in a row, the Weber State University women's soccer team has finally found a well-deserved win against the Nevada Wolf Pack.
In the fifth meeting between the Wildcats and Wolf Pack, the teams were fairly evenly matched. For 90 minutes, possession went back-and-forth between the two teams, and the game finished 0-0 at end of regulation. However, the Wildcats increased their intensity across the board heading into the two, golden-goal overtime periods. The Wildcats created multiple quality chances to score, and had spells where they strung together more than five passes in a row.
Though Nevada outshot the Wildcats 14 to 8, Weber State had greater accuracy, and ultimately that's what it came down to. In the 107th minute, Rachel Twede slammed a shot into the left upper-90 to end the game and give the Wildcats their first win of the season. Weber State redshirt sophomore goalkeeper, Kaytlin Bradley, also helped secure the Wildcat's win by racking up six saves.
"Playing three overtime games in six days has certainly taken a physical toll on us. So I couldn't be more proud of the result. These girls showed the kind of grit and determination that speaks volumes about the kind of team this is. These girls are fighters, and they fought hard against a very physical Nevada team." said Interim Head Coach Meagan Thunell.
The Weber State women's soccer team is back in action on September 13th, at Boise State in Boise, ID. Kickoff for the game will be 5:00 pm MT.
