'Cats return to action to beat Westminster 85-73

OGDEN - After nearly two weeks off, Weber State returned to the court and came away with an 85-73 win over Westminster College Tuesday night at the Dee Events Center.Â

The Griffins hit three 3-pointers early on and jumped out to an 11-6 lead. The Wildcats responded with a run and led 33-28 with four minutes to play, before ending the first half an 18-3 run to lead 51-31 at halftime.Â

But the Griffins came back in the second half and cut the lead to eight points with 3:21 to play in the second half before the Wildcats were able to close it out.Â

Weber State shot 53 percent from the field and held the Griffins to 39 percent shooting. The Wildcats knocked down 10 3-pointers and had 17 assists and nine steals.Â

For the second-straight game, Isiah Brown scored a career-high to lead the Wildcats. He finished with 29 points on 9 of 16 shooting with three 3-pointers. He was also 8 of 11 from the free throw line to go along with five assists, four steals and four rebounds.Â

Cody Carlson scored in double figures for the second-straight game, finishing with 16 points and was 7 of 8 from the field. Zahir Porter added 13 points and Michal Kozak had seven points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots. All nine Wildcats that played scored at least two points.Â

The 2-0 Wildcats are back home Saturday afternoon to host Utah State in a 2 p.m. tipoff at the Dee Events Center. The game will be televised on KJZZ TV as well as Pluto TV 1054.Â
