Huge second half lifts Wildcats past Texans 94-79

OGDEN - Weber State put together an incredible second half and rallied for a 94-79 win over Tarleton State Sunday night at the Dee Events Center, in the second of back-to-back home games.Â

The Texans closed the first half on a 13-3 run and held a 44-35 lead at halftime. In the second half the Wildcats turned things around and outscored the Texans 59-35 in the second half.Â

Weber State shot 64 percent from the field in the second half, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range.Â

WSU finished the game shooting 58 percent and was 14 of 24 from 3-point range, and held Tarleton State to 46 percent shooting, including 38 percent in the second half. The Wildcats also outrebounded the Texans 34-20 and had 20 assists. Â

Five Wildcats scored in double figures led by junior Zahir Porter who finished with 23 points, with 18 points coming in the second half. Porter was 8 of 10 from the field, 5 of 6 from 3-point range, and added five assists and four rebounds.Â

Isaiah Brown added 22 points with nine rebounds and five assists. Dillon Jones had season-highs of 13 points and nine rebounds and KJ Cunningham tied his career-high with 10 points.Â

Weber State now sits at 6-3 overall. The Wildcats are 1-1 in Big Sky play and scheduled to return to conference action this week with two games against Southern Utah this week. Weber State will host SUU on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center, in a game televised on KJZZ TV. The two teams will meet Saturday afternoon in Cedar City.Â
