Wildcats drop first game of the season, 94-60 at Washington State

Next four games will be at home beginning Saturday.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Weber State lost for the first time this season as the Wildcats fell 94-60 to Washington State Wednesday night at Beasley Court in Pullman.  

How it happened 
The Wildcats led 13-12 early before a 10-0 Washington State run gave the Cougars a 22-13 lead with 8:15 left in the first half. 

Weber State had a 7-0 run of its own to cut the lead to three points with 2:38 to play but the Cougars closed the first half on a 7-0 run and led 35-24 at halftime. 

Washington State led by 19 points early in the second half. The Wildcats cut it to 11 points with 7:28 to play but the Cougars responded with a 23-7 run and led 85-58 with 2:52 to play. Washington State also closed the game on a 7-0 run. 

Numbers to know
The Wildcats shot just 35 percent from the field, while the Cougars shot 57 percent, the best performance allowed by the Wildcats this season. 

Washington State was 13 of 22 from 3-point range while Weber State was 5 of 23. The Cougars also outrebounded the Wildcats 43-24 and 19 assists, compared to six for Weber State. 

Four Wildcats scored in double figures led by Dillon Jones who had 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds. He also added three steals and two assists. 

Koby McEwen and JJ Overton each had 12 points and Seikou Sisoho Jawara added 11 points. 

Up next
The loss dropped Weber State to 8-1 on the season. WSU will play its next four games at the Dee Events Center starting on Saturday when they host Maine Fort Kent at 2:30 p.m. 

After that, the Wildcat will host Utah State on Dec. 15, BYU on Dec. 18 and Fresno State on Dec. 23.
