Wildcats Fall to Longhorns

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Weber State Wildcats opened up the 2022 NCAA Regionals on Friday and fell to the Texas Longhorns by a score of 6-0.
The game started with a bang for the Wildcats. Faith Hoe cracked a lead-off double off purple-padded wall at Husky Softball Stadium. Arissa Henderson moved Faith to third on a single, but the Wildcats weren't able to capitalize in the first as the Longhorns got out of the inning unscathed.
Texas took a 1-0 lead at the end of one, and extended it to 3-0 at the end of the second. Mia Rushton gave the Wildcats a baserunner in the third inning after walking, but some impressive defense from Texas kept Weber State off the board.
The Longhorn lead was stretched to 6-0 in the fourth inning which forced Mary Kay Amicone to make a pitching change and bring in Mariah Ramirez. After stepping in the circle, Mo helped to long things down in the fourth and Texas wasn't able to do anymore damage.
Faith Hoe doubled in the sixth inning and Mika Chong singled in the seventh to give the 'Cats a couple more baserunners, but the Wildcats weren't able to plate anyone in the
game.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 38-11 on the season.
