Weber State Men's Golf Back in Action at Big O Classic

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State men's golf team will tee it up again this week for the team's fourth event of the 2023 fall season as they travel to Elkhorn, Neb. and Indian Creek Golf Club to compete in the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Creighton co-hosted Big O Classic.
The tournament is a 54-hole event that will take place Oct. 2-3, with 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
Fourteen teams make up the field of the Big O Classic. Joining Omaha and Creighton in the tournament are Dodge City CC, Hutchinson CC, Indian Hills CC, Lindenwood, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, St. Thomas, Weber State, Western Illinois and Wichita State.
Indian Creek is a par-72 course measuring 7,627 yards.
Competing for the Wildcats will be Isaac Buerger, Ty Anderson, Hayden Banz, Brendan Thomas and Gunnar Knutson.
The Wildcats are coming off of a fourth place finish at the Dolenc Invitational last week at Gateway National Golf Links. WSU shot a 10-under par score of 842 in the event and were led by Anderson, who shot a 6-under par total of 207 to finish in ninth place overall. Buerger, Banz and Thomas each joined Anderson with top-25 finishes.
The team's appearance in the Big O Classic is the first for the Wildcats since 2014, when the tournament was titled the UNO Invitational and was played at ArborLinks Golf Club in Nebraska City, Neb. The Wildcats came away with the team championship in that edition, shooting 299 and defeating the tournament-host Mavericks in a sudden death playoff.
