‘Cats Go 2-0 In Conference Play With Win Over Montana

Ogden, UT – The Weber State men's tennis squad came out on top 5-2 over Montana on Friday at the Ogden Athletic Club. The win improves the 'Cats to 2-0 in conference play and 8-6 overall.
"These were close matches all around, and we were happy to win all the tiebreakers," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
Starting with doubles play, doubles duo Sebastian Buxman and Jordan Coutinho came out with the first win on court three, beating their Montana opponents 6-2. Following their teammates' lead, William Zulch and Connor Kruger secured the doubles point and first point of the match for WSU with their 6-3 victory on court one.
Montana fought back with a win at No. 4 singles to get its first point. With the match tied 1-1, matches on courts two, three, and one were all pushed to tiebreakers but ended in favor of the Wildcats. Tristan Sarap took the win over Fernando Perez 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Connor Kruger earned the upper hand against Tom Bittner 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, and Sebastian Buxman clinched the match for the 'Cats 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) over Gustav Theilgaard.
Ahead by three, Wildcat Elyes Marouani battled against Sam Baldwin (6-4, 7-6 (8-6)) to earn Weber State their final point on the day, awarding them with the 5-2 win over the Griz.
