Weber State Takes Fourth at 54 for IX Tournament

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – The Weber State women's golf team finished off the Big Sky Conference-hosted 54 for IX tournament on Tuesday with a fourth place finish after shooting a three-round total of 873 at TalonsCove Golf Club.
Weber State started slowly in Monday's opening round, but made a late rally for a tie for fifth in the 14-team field after 18 holes with a 298. The 'Cats shot a 289 in the second round to remain in fifth place and moved up one spot in Tuesday's final round with a 2-under par 286.
Isabel Gutierrez led the final day move, carding seven birdies in a 3-under par 69, and posted the team's top finish with an 11th place with a 2-under par 214. Gutierrez opened the tournament with rounds of 74 and 71 on Tuesday, posting seven birdies over the two rounds.
Jessica Zelasko and Sofia Fuenmayor each tied for 23rd place, while Emily Song tied for 25th place to give the Wildcats four players inside the top-25.
Zelasko carded eight birdies on the tournament over rounds of 73, 73 and 74, while Fuenmayor made nine birdies over rounds of 72, 75 and 73 as the pair each posted a 4-over par 220.
Song carded seven birdies, including four in the final round, as she shot scores of 79, 72 and 70 for a 5-over par 221.
Cala Korman completed the Wildcats scoring team with rounds of 79, 73 and 74 for a 10-over par 226 to tie for 52nd place.
Jade Gruher and Samira Salinas each competed as individuals for Weber State. Gruher shot rounds of 75, 75 and 73 for a 7-over par 223 and a tie for 37th place in her collegiate debut, while Salinas shot 72, 79 and 75 to tie with Korman in 52nd.
Sacramento State became the inaugural winner of the event, shooting a 17-under par total of 847, while Northern Arizona finished second at 861 and Montana State was third at 869.
Montana State's Scarlet Weidig-Velazquez claimed individual medalist honors, finishing with a 9-under par total of 207.
