Weber State is back home on Monday night.

OGDEN - Weber State battled back from a slow start but it wasn't enough as the 'Cats fell 93-87 to UC Irvine Friday night at the Dee Events Center.

The Anteaters scored the first 12 points of the game and led 12-0 in the first four minutes. But the Wildcats responded with a 12-4 run to get back in it. The 'Cats tied the game with five minutes left in the first half and took a lead in the final minute of the half before the Anteaters made a 3-pointer at the buzzer and led 37-33 at the break.

UC Irvine took a 12-point lead early in the second half, but the Wildcats again responded and cut the lead to one point midway through the half.

The game was tied with 5:31 to play before a 12-0 UC Irvine run made it 81-69 with two minutes to play and the Anteaters held on for the win to improve to 5-0 on the season.

UC Irving shot 51 percent from the field with the Wildcats at 49 percent. The Anteaters outrebounded the Wildcats 41-31 and dished out 20 assists. Weber State made 13 3-pointers and had 10 steals.

"I thought our guys competed really well and hard tonight against a really good team," said WSU head coach Eric Duft. "I think we are continuing to improve and made vast improvements tonight against a quality opponent. We have a great group of guys, we just need to find a little more toughness and competitive edge but we are right there."

Five Wildcats scored in double figures with Blaise Threatt again leading the way with 22 points. He also had six assists and three steals.

Dyson Koehler added 17 points and was 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Vasilije Vucinic added 12 points off the bench and freshman Trevor Hennig had a career-high 10 points on 4 of 4 shooting.

The Wildcats are right back home again on Monday night to host Justice College at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.

After that the 'Cats head to the Arizona Tip-Off November 29-30 in Tempe, Arizona.
