The Wildcats host a three-game series against the Griz this weekend.

This Week
Weber State is coming off of a 10-2 (5 Inn.) home opener loss to the No. 18 California Golden Bears this past Wednesday. Back in action at home, the Wildcats host the Montana Griz for a three-game series starting Friday at 2 p.m. Games will be played at the Wildcat Softball Field.
 
Know the Foe
Series: 18-10
 
This will be the 28th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Griz. In the last game between the two, Weber State won 5-2 in Missoula. The Wildcats hold a 2-0 winning streak in the series.
 
Currently, Montana is 12-17 on the season. Last season, the Griz went 10-37, 4-11.
 
Team Leaders
Kiaira Smith leads the Wildcats with a batting average of .351. Smith has recorded 27 hits, eight runs and 15 RBI on the season. She recorded her third home run of the season against California.  Abby Grundy and Mia Rushton have both recorded 16 runs this season. Taegan Smith leads with 28 hits. Pitcher Brooke Merrill is 7-6 on the season for the Wildcats.

Fresh Faces
Six players make up the freshman class for 2024. Pitcher, Joslynn Veltien from Frederick, CO and catcher Mariyah Delgado from Herriman, UT. Sienna Solis a MIF from Gilbert, AZ, Sammy Gallegos an IF/OF from Magna, UT, Emma Bingham a OF from St. George, UT, and Kiaira Smith from South Jordan, UT also join the Wildcat squad.
 
Senior Stars
Weber State has three seniors returning for the Wildcats. IF/P Brooke Hatfield, OF Mia Rushton, and MI Makayla Donahoo. Last season, Donahoo played in 26 games and started in 24 for WSU. She hit .170 with a .189 slugging percentage and a .228 on-base percentage. She had 26 putouts and 51 assists for a .906 fielding percentage. Rushton played and started in 44 games, had 13 runs and 27 hits, had 110 at-bats and three RBI for a .300 slugging percentage. Hatfield pitched in 19 games last season for a total of 41.2 innings.
