GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf team wrapped up its last regular season tournament ahead of the Big Sky Championships on Wednesday with a tie for sixth place in the Bobcat Desert Classic at the Golf Club of Estrella.
As a team, the Wildcats shot rounds of 290, 287 and 296 for a three-round total of 9-over par 873. Grand Canyon won the team title with an 11-under par total of 853.
WSU finished ahead of five other Big Sky Conference programs in the 17-team field, beating Eastern Washington, Montana, Portland State, Montana State and Idaho State. The 'Cats came in two shots behind Idaho, which led Big Sky schools in a tie for third place.
Jade Gruher led the Wildcats with rounds of 71, 69 and 77 for a 1-over par total of 217, which tied her for 16th place overall.
Sofia Fuenmayor finished one shot behind Gruher in a tie for 20th after rounds of 72, 74 and 72 for a 2-over par 218.
Isabel Gutierrez tied for 26th at 220 behind rounds of 72, 73 and 75, while Emily Song shot rounds of 75, 74 and 74 to tie for 38th at 223.
Jessica Zelasko rounded out the Wildcats' scoring team with rounds of 79, 71 and 75 for a total of 225 to tie for 56th.
Cala Korman played as an individual for Weber State, shooting 73, 75 and 73 for a total of 221 and a tie for 32nd.
Seattle's Rivekka Jumagulova shot rounds of 66, 67 and 71 to earn medalist honors with a 12-under par 204.
The Wildcats will be back in action again in Arizona next week as they compete for a conference title at the Big Sky Championships at Wigwam Golf Club. The championship will begin on Monday, April 15 with 18 holes each day through Wednesday, April 17.
