WINDSOR, Colo. – The Weber State men's golf team posted rounds of 288 and 296 on Monday to finish in third place at the UNC Spring Invitational, which saw the third and final round canceled due to poor weather on Tuesday at Raindance National Golf Course.
Oliver Gothe, playing as an individual in the tournament for Weber State, posted the Wildcats' top finish after shooting rounds of 70 and 73 for a 1-under par total of 143 to finish in a tie for seventh place overall.
Gunnar Knutson led the Wildcats' scoring team, posting back-to-back rounds of even par 72 to finish in a tie for 10th place.
Hayden Banz tied for 13th place at 1-over par 145 after rounds of 70 and 75, while Isaac Buerger finished 20th at 3-over par 147 with rounds of 71 and 76 to give Weber State three scoring players–and four overall–inside the top-20.
Ty Anderson just missed the top-20 as well, shooting rounds of 75 and 73 to finish 21st at 4-over par 148.
Brendan Thomas tied for 35th place, shooting rounds of 79 and 77 for a 12-over par total of 156.
Utah State claimed the team title in the tournament, shooting 21-under par. Utah Valley finished second at 7-under par. The Wolverines were led by individual medalist Zac Erskine, who shot rounds of 69 and 67 for an 8-under par 136.
The tournament is the final event for the Wildcats ahead of the Big Sky Conference Championships, which will be held April 23-25 at Wigwam Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
