Weber State falls to Sacramento State in nine innings on senior day

Ogden, UT - The Weber State softball team fell 4-3 in nine innings to the Hornets on senior day at the Wildcat Softball Field this Saturday afternoon.

COMING UP
The Wildcats return to the diamond April 23 for a single game against the Utah Valley Wolverines. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Wildcat Softball Field.

- Sac State was first to get on the board with an early 3-0 lead after the top of the third.Â
- Bouncing back, the Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the third when Abby Grundy singled to the pitcher on a bunt which advanced two 'Cats. Mia Rushton and Emma Bingham to home plate and the score was 3-2.Â
- To tie the game up 3-3, Eva Richardson was walked with bases loaded.
- Pushed to extra innings, the Hornets had bases loaded in the top of the eighth.Â
- Leaving three stranded, the 'Cats got out of a jam as the Hornets Nikki Barboza grounded out to second.Â
- Doing some damage in the top of the ninth, the Hornets brought in a run.Â
- The Wildcats needed to do some work on their end to pull out the win. Unfortunately, the 'Cats were up then down and the game ended in favor of the Hornets 4-3 after nine innings.
- Cali McCraw took the loss, pitching 7.2 innings with one strikeout.
- Abby Grundy went 2 for 3 and totaled two RBI.
