Wolverines pull away from Wildcats

Ogden, UT - Weber State dropped its midweek final non-conference matchup 9-1 to the Utah Valley Wolverines Tuesday afternoon at the Wildcat Softball Field.

Utah Valley earned the first run of the day when bases were loaded and Payge Armendariz was walked to first.
In return, Weber State tied the game 1-1 when Mia Rushton stole home in the bottom of the first.
The Wolverines found their momentum in the fourth inning, bringing in five runs. Four which came from a grand slam hit by Payge Armendariz.
Into the bottom of the fourth, Utah Valley was up 7-1 over the Wildcats.
Not finished there, the Wolverines tacked on an additional two runs and the game ended after six innings 9-1 in favor of UVU.
Brooke Merrill took the loss, now 8-9 on the season.

"We let the game get away from us early and I'm disappointed with the fact that that's not the way we play," said Amicone.

"Right now, we are going to feel the pain of how poorly we played but looking forward to getting the taste out of our mouth and showing who we are this weekend."

COMING UP
The Wildcats return to the diamond April 26-27 for a three-game series against the Idaho State Bengals. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Miller Ranch Stadium.
