Big Sky Tournament

The 2024 Big Sky Softball Championship will be held May 8-11 at Idaho State's Softball Field in Pocatello, Idaho. All six Big Sky softball teams will advance to the double-elimination tournament, with the champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament.

The Big Sky regular season came to an end as the Northern Colorado Bears clinched the regular season title with a 9-5 record. This regular season title is the first for the Bears in program history. Weber State finished the Big Sky season 8-7 and as the #5 seed in the tournament. The Wildcats will take on the #4 seeded Portland State Vikings in the first game of the tournament. 

Team Leaders

Abby Grundy leads the Wildcats with a batting average of .349 and has recorded 45 hits, 24 runs, and 27 RBI. Freshman Kiaira Smith has a batting average of .319 and a slugging percentage of .533. Smith has totaled 43 hits, 23 RBI, and six home runs. Brooke Hatfield has an ERA of 4.12 in her 59.0 innings pitched. She is 4-5 on the season and has recorded 17 strikeouts.

Fresh Faces

Six players make up the freshman class for 2024. Pitcher, Joslynn Veltien from Frederick, CO and catcher Mariyah Delgado from Herriman, UT. Sienna Solis a MIF from Gilbert, AZ, Sammy Gallegos an IF/OF from Magna, UT, Emma Bingham a OF from St. George, UT, and Kiaira Smith from South Jordan, UT also join the Wildcat squad.
