Threatt leads Wildcats to 60-58 win over Vikings

Blaise Threatt had 27 points to lead the Wildcats.
OGDEN - Blaise Threatt scored 27 points and hit the game-winning jumper in the final second to give Weber State a 60-58 win over Portland State Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.Â
With the game tied 58-58, Threatt dribbled down the floor and pulled up for an 18-foot jump shot with one second remaining and the 'Cats held on for the win.Â
Threatt missed his first six shots of the night but was 8 of 12 from the field in the second half and scored 19 points to twice lead the Wildcats back from 11-point deficits.Â
For the game, Threatt finished with 27 points, along with five rebounds and two assists. Threatt has scored at least 20 points in six straight games and is averaging 26.2 points per game over the last six games.Â
Portland State jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead and later had an 8-0 run and led 20-9 midway through the first half.Â
The Wildcats responded with an 11-0 run of their own and tied the game 20-20. Portland State led 26-23 at halftime and had an 11-2 run early in the second half to lead 39-31. After Weber State cut the lead to one points, the Vikings had a 10-0 run and took an 11-point lead at 49-38 with 6:34 remaining.Â
In the final 6:34, Weber State outscored the Vikings 22-9, with Threatt scoring 12 of those 22 points.Â
Both teams shot 41 percent from the field and the Wildcats tied their season-low with just three 3-pointers as they finished 3 of 16. Portland State was 6 of 24 from 3-point range. Â
The Wildcats outrebounded the Vikings 35-34 and had seven steals and four blocked shots.Â
Freshman Trevor Hennig added 15 points on 6 of 13 shooting with two 3-pointers. Viljami Vartiainen added eight points and made a key 3-pointer in the final minutes of the game.Â
Nigel Burris had a team-high 10 rebounds.Â
Weber State has just three games remaining in the Big Sky regular season. The Wildcats hit the road to play at Eastern Washington and Idaho on Thursday and Saturday. The final regular season game and the final home game of the season will be on Monday, March 3 against Northern Colorado.Â
The Big Sky Tournament will be held March 8-12 in Boise, Idaho.Â
