Wildcats drop two in Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. -  Weber State softball fell 9-1 in six innings to the number six ranked LSU Tigers and 26-5 (5 Inn.) to the number four ranked UCLA Bruins. 

Weber State 1, #6 LSU 9 (6 Inn.)
  • Oliva Birkinshaw put the Wildcats on the board first following a home run, the sixth of her career.
  • LSU in response tacked on eight runs through three innings. 
  • To close it out in the sixth inning, LSU notched one more run and the game ended in favor of the Tigers 9-1.
  • RJ Parra took the loss, pitching one inning and facing eight batters. 
Weber State 5, #4 UCLA 26 (5 Inn.)
  • A tough UCLA team quickly got on the board with five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Notching six more in the second inning, the Bruins went up 11-0.
  • A Sadie Kirk RBI single got the 'Cats on the board in the third inning.
  • Next at bat, Birkinshaw hit a home run with bases loaded and the Wildcats advanced the score 5-11.
  • The Bruins respond in the bottom of the inning with nine runs and then added six in the fourth. 
  • Despite the Wildcats offensive and defensive efforts, the Bruins went on to win the game 5-26 in five innings.
