Wildcat men take fourth at Big Sky Outdoor Championships

WSU earned five all-conference honors.
SACRAMENTO - The Weber State men's track and field team finished fourth at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships this weekend in Sacramento. 
The Wildcats had five All-Big Sky honors and totaled 77 points to take fourth place.Â
The top event of the meet for the Wildcats was the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where Weber State totaled 16 points.Â
Peter Visser was second in the event with a time of 8:40.23 to earn all-conference honors. TJ Warnick finished fifth with a personal best time of 8:53.87. Owen Rogers fell during a water jump, but still managed to finish sixth with a time of 8:57.71, and Ty Davis was eighth at 9:06.13.Â
Visser was the only Wildcat to earn All-Big Sky honors in two events. On Saturday, he finished second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:56.20, less than one second out of first place.Â
Rodee Brow earned All-Big Sky honors with a seasonal best performance in the 400 meters. He posted a time of 46.79 to finish third and earn six points for the Wildcats.Â
Jake Weathers also earned All-Big Sky honors in the hammer throw. He had a seasonal best mark of 188-11 to finish third in the event and claim all-conference honors.Â
In the final event of the meet, the 4x400-meter relay, Weber State finished third overall. The squad of Colby Anderson, Tristan Spalding, Orion Barger, and Alex Wheeler posted a time of 3:11.25 to finish third.Â
Alex Wheeler also placed in two individual events. He was fourth in the 200 meters at 21.43, and finished sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.67.Â
Malik Johnson also placed in two hurdle events. He was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.93 and finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.64.Â
Joe Corbridge placed fourth in the 800 meters with a career best time of 1:50.19, which is just outside the WSU all-time top 10.Â
The 'Cats had two finishers in the 10,000 meters with Jacob Peterson taking sixth at 29:49.87 and Wesley Kallgren taking seventh at 30:06.64.Â
Weber State was also seventh in the 4x100 meter relay.Â
In the decathlon on Wednesday and Thursday, Brogan Garrett finished fourth with a total of 6,157 points.Â
Ethan Ecker was fifth in the javelin with a mark of 199-11, and Jeims Molina finished eighth in the hammer at 181-11.Â
Up next for those that qualify will be the NCAA West Region First Round meet, which will be held May 28-31 in College Station, Texas.Â
