Visser will compete in the steeplechase at the NCAA meet in Eugene.
For the second time this academic year, Peter Visser is heading to an NCAA Championship. Visser will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in Eugene, Oregon.Â
The junior from Afton, Wyoming, will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Wednesday in Eugene.Â
He is one of 24 athletes from across the country who qualified for the event. The semifinals of the steeplechase will be on Wednesday, June 11, at 4:38 p.m. PT (5:38 p.m. MT).Â
The top 12 finishers in the semifinals will advance to the finals, which will be on Friday, June 13, at 5:24 p.m. PT (6:24 p.m. MT). The top eight finishers in the finals will earn first-team All-America honors, and the second eight finishers will earn second-team All-America honors.Â
The meet will be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2, and ESPN+.Â
Visser qualified for the championship by finishing 12th overall at the NCAA West First Round meet on May 30 in College Station, Texas. He posted a time of 8:40.17 to qualify. Â
Earlier this year, Visser ran a career-best time of 8:35.98 in the event at the Stanford Invitational. That time currently ranks as the fifth-best in Weber State history. He also set a school record in the 5,000 meters this season.Â
He was second in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters at the Big Sky Championships earlier in May in Sacramento.Â
Visser also qualified for the NCAA Championships in cross country last fall.Â
