Wildcats comeback to win in Corvallis

Corvallis, Ore - The Weber State Women's Soccer team defeated Oregon State 3-2 in comeback fashion to pick up their first victory of the season and of the Kyle Christensen era.
So much to be proud of from this weekend. We put in two good performances, and today's result showed the resiliency and fight that this team has. Head Coach Kyle Christensen said, To come back from a two-goal deficit away from home on the second game of the weekend after suffering a bad result shows the determination of this team to reach new heights. Today was a team effort with everyone doing their part to get the result.
The Wildcats scored in a flurry at the beginning of the second half after falling behind 2-0 on Oregon State goals in the 20th and 23rd minutes.
Sayler Schlosser got the 'Cats on the board in 2025 in the 46th minute, and Brynlee Meyerhoffer quickly followed with the equalizer in the 50th minute. Lily Blum (Salt Lake City, UT/Olympus) connected on a rebound volley in the 55th minute to put the 'Cats in front for good.
The Wildcats had no shortage of opportunities throughout the game, outshooting the Beavers 24-15. The Wildcat defense limited the Beaver offense to only 2 shots on goal all day and 0 in the second half of action.
Schlosser and Blum led the charge on offense for the Wildcats, taking 5 and 4 shots, respectively.
This is the first time that the Wildcats have scored at least 3 goals in a match since the 4-2 victory over North Dakota State on September 12th of last year.
The 'Cats will look to keep the momentum as they head back to Ogden for their home opener against CSU Bakersfield on Thursday, August 21st. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m., and the Wildcats are celebrating Youth Jersey Night. Fans who wear their youth sports jersey will gain free admission to the match.
We now get to return home and hopefully put in a couple of great performances in front of the home crowd! Christensen said.
