25 of the top 40 teams in the country will be in the meet on Friday.
The Weber State men's cross country team will head to Columbia, Missouri, to compete in the seventh annual Missouri Gans Creek Classic on Friday.
The Wildcats will compete in the 8k Men's Gold Championship race at 8:45 am (MDT). The meet will be streamed on the SEC Network. Weber State will compete against 31 other schools in the event, 17 of which are within the Top 30 of the National Coaches' Poll. The meet includes 25 of the top 40 teams in the country.Â
"Our purpose is to pick up some possible points for the NCAA Championships," said WSU head coach Corbin Talley. "If we can finish among the top 15 in the race, we will snag some very valuable points. The guys are healthy, we've been working really hard, and we're excited for this opportunity. It is the most nationally competitive race the squad has been in for the last decade."Â
The Wildcats are coming off a 3rd place finish in the BYU Autumn Classic.Â
Following the trip to Missouri, the Wildcats will then travel to Pocatello, Idaho, on October 3 to compete in the Idaho State Invitational.
