Weber State falls to Utah Tech to conclude San Diego Tournament

SAN DIEGO, California - Closing out the San Diego Tournament, Wildcat softball finished with a 1-4 record after suffering an 8-2 loss to the Utah Tech Trailblazers on the final day.
Weber State was first on the board as Taegan Smith scored unearned in the bottom of the second inning.Â
Utah Tech started strong, scoring five runs in the third inning and adding two more in the fourth.
Despite Taegan Smith scoring another run for the Wildcats in the bottom of the fourth, they couldn't produce any additional offense, allowing the Trailblazers to maintain their 7-2 lead.
The Trailblazers then closed it out 8-2 after holding the 'Cats scoreless for the remainder of the game and bringing home one more run.
Cali McCraw (0-1) earned the loss, pitching 3.0 innings and facing 17 batters while recording three strikeouts.Â
Weber State finished the game with two hits to Utah Tech's ten.Â
