Wildcats drop game to Aggies on opening day of Lyman Classic

UC Davis started strong, scoring three early runs in the bottom of the first inning.Â
The Wildcats Tori Rey put Weber State on the board with an RBI single to left center field.
The momentum continued as Apollonia Maldonado hit an RBI double to center field in the third inning. Following her hit, Taegan Smith smashed the first home run of the season, a three-run shot that gave the team a 5-3 lead.

After the Aggies tied the score at 5-5 in the fourth inning, Weber State quickly regained the lead. A Sammy Gallegos RBI single put the Wildcats back on top, 6-5.
A three-RBI home run from Mariyah Delgado then extended the lead, making the score 9-5.
Despite falling behind, the Aggies rallied, scoring six runs to take an 11-9 lead as they entered the seventh inning.
Weber State's rally fell short in the final inning against the Aggies. After Jordan McMahon's RBI triple narrowed the gap to one, Weber State couldn't capitalize, as two Wildcats struck out swinging, leaving a runner stranded and securing an 11-10 victory for UC Davis.
