OGDEN - A big first half lifted Utah Valley to a 75-63 win over Weber State Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.

UVU went on a 16-2 run over a 6:15 stretch of the first half and led 30-12 with under six minutes to play. The Wolverines led by as many as 19 points in the first half and held a 41-23 lead at halftime after shooting 54 percent from the field in the half, compared to 31 percent for Weber State.

WSU outscored the Wolverines 40-34 in the second half but it wasn't enough. The Wildcats made a run early in the half as an 8-0 run cut the UVU lead to 11 with under 12 minutes to play. WSU cut the lead to 11 points several times and cut it to 10 with 3:05 remaining but was not able to get closer.

Weber State shot 36 percent from the field, compared to 47 percent shooting for Utah Valley. The 'Cats were 4 of 16 from 3-point range and 15 of 23 from the free throw line. The Wolverines also outrebounded the Wildcats 45-37 and WSU had six assists.

Senior Brekkott Chapman led Weber State with season-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. He led all scorers in points, rebounds and blocked shots and finished 8 of 11 from the field.

Cody John added 15 points and Jerrick Harding had 10. Zach Braxton finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

"You have to give Utah Valley credit, we just couldn't hit our shots tonight," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We've hit some adversity right now and this has been a tough couple of weeks but we'll use it to get better.

The loss drops Weber State to 5-5 on the season. It was UVU's first ever win in Ogden and the first time a team has won a road game in the series.

The Wildcats close out the non-conference season next Saturday, Dec. 22, hosting Delaware State in a 2 p.m. game at the Dee Events Center.
