Southern Utah started the extra period on a quick 8-3 run in the first two minutes, and SUU was 3 of 4 from the field and 12 of 16 from the free throw line in the extra period, while the Wildcats were 3 of 10 from the field in overtime.
The Wildcats finished the game at 35 percent from the field, compared to 44 percent shooting for Southern Utah.
"We didn't have the same energy and urgency that we had been playing with and we just let our guard down," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "Southern Utah deserves the credit. We weren't on edge and missed too many shots."
