GAME NOTES: Wildcats Set to Host UVU in Home Opener

The Weber State Wildcat softball team is set to host the 2022 home opener against the Utah Valley Wolverines on Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Softball Field. This will be the second of three meetings between the two teams this season, and will be the 35th overall clash in the history of the two programs.

WEBER STATE (20-6)
-Tuesday's game will be Weber State's home opener, and is the start of a four-game stretch in which the Wildcats will only play in-state opponents.
-The Cats and the Wolverines are tied at 17 wins each in the overall series, the series is knotted up at six when they play each other in Ogden.
-The last meeting between WSU and UVU was one of the most improbable comebacks in Weber State history. Trailing 7-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth, Weber State scored eight runs in the next four innings to have a walk off win against the Wolverines.
-The Wildcats are ranked 50th in the nation in RPI as of this writing, which is the highest RPI of any team in the Big Sky Conference.
-With a 20-6 start to the season, Weber State is currently off to the hottest start in school history.
-Earlier this season the Wildcats won a school record 12 games in a row, including a win over Kansas, two wins against UNLV, and a win against Texas A&M.

Wildcat Pitching
-Weber State's pitching staff currently leads the Big Sky Conference with a 2.71 ERA.
-Opponents are just hitting .235 against Wildcat pitching, which is the lowest opponent batting average of any team in the Big Sky.
-Arissa Henderson and Amanda Sink both rank in the top five in the Big Sky in ERA at 1.62 and 2.34, respectively.
-With 76 strikeouts in just 69.1 IP, Henderson is fifth in the conference in total strikeouts.

Wildcat Offense
-Weber State leads the conference in sacrifice flies with eight.
-Faith Hoe leads the Wildcats with a .380 batting average which puts her in the top three in the Big Sky.
-Chloe Camarero ranks in the top five in the Big Sky in slugging (.671), OPS (1.058), runs scored (21), and home runs (eight).
-With Camarero's eighth home run on the year, she has already established a new career high for most home runs in a season.
-Weber State has four players who rank in the top ten in the Big Sky for stolen bases: Makayla Donahoo (seven), Katelyn Whiting (4), Camarero (4), and Faith Hoe (4).
