Wildcats Fall to Utes in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats' three-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday as the Utah Utes rode a hot sixth inning to a 5-1 win.
The Wildcats went down quietly in the top of the first inning, but the Utes got the scoring started in their half of the frame. After a pair of singles and the runners moving to second and third, respectively, a ground out was enough to score a runner and give Utah a 1-0 lead.
Neither team was able to get the bats going until the top of the fifth inning. Arissa Henderson, the Wildcats' starting pitcher, led the inning off with a solo round tripper on a 2-2 pitch that tied the game up at one run each.
It was the bottom of the sixth where the Utes did most of their damage.
With runners on second and third and nobody out, a double to right field scored a pair of Utes to create a two-run gap between the teams. Utah went on to score two more runs in the sixth to extend its advantage to 5-1 which ended up as the final tally.
The loss puts Weber State at 21-7 on the year and 2-1 against in-state teams.
