OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Weber State fell in a pair of games against two of the best teams in the nation on Saturday in the USA Softball Complex. Weber State stayed tough against Northwestern in a 4-0 game and dropped the matchup against the defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners.
In the battle of Wildcats, Weber State fell short following Northwestern scoring in the first three innings, but unable to muster the offense to keep up with NU.
Madison Peterson and Jayci Finch were the 'Cats in the circle for WSU. Peterson hurled 1.2 innings with one strikeout having faced eight hitters. Finch, on the other hand, threw a total of 4.1 innings pitched with two strikeouts against 18 batters. Mika Chong, Faith Hoe, and Lauren Hoe had Weber State's base knocks against NU.
Later in the day, WSU faced OU and had a similar fate, falling to the reigning national champs. Unlike the day prior, the Sooners started off hot and created a deficit the 'Cats couldn't climb out of. Oklahoma scored early and often and cruised to a victory over the Wildcats.
